George Stephanopoulos and ABC apologize to Trump, settle lawsuit for $15M
Donald Trump has won a settlement in his defamation suit against ABC News and George Stephanopoulos. The agreement will result in the news network paying Donald Trump $15,000,000.
The settlement went public on Dec. 14 and revealed that the parties have decided to avoid a costly trial.
Fox News reports that the settlement states that "ABC News will pay $15 million as a charitable contribution to a 'Presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for Plaintiff, as Presidents of the United States of America have established in the past.' Additionally, the network will pay $1 million in Trump's attorney fees."
Also as part of the agreement, ABC had to issue statements of "regret" as a note at the bottom of an online article from March, which prompted Trump to file the defamation lawsuit. The note reads, "ABC News and George Stephanopoulos regret statements regarding President Donald J. Trump made during an interview by George Stephanopoulos with Rep. Nancy Mace on ABC’s This Week on March 10, 2024."
"We are pleased that the parties have reached an agreement to dismiss the lawsuit on the terms in the court filing," an ABC spokesman said.
Now that Trump is headed back to the White House, his enemies are finally having to answer for their actions against him!
