General Mark Milley suggests no end in sight for Ukraine war

January 23, 2023

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley admitted on Friday that it is unlikely that Ukraine would be able to “eject” Russian forces this year.

Milley was asked about the situation during a press conference in Germany and he said, "From a military standpoint, I still maintain that for this year it would be very, very difficult to militarily eject the Russian forces from all — every inch of Ukraine and occupied — or Russian-occupied Ukraine. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen, doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but it’d be very, very difficult."

The war in Ukraine is approaching the one-year mark and if Milley's comments are correct the war could go on for another year.

The war has displaced millions of civilians with thousands killed in the fierce fighting. The total number of dead may never be known due to the propaganda battle being waged by both Ukraine and Russia.

For now, there seems to be no end in sight and that explains why Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin recently stated that the Biden administration will support Ukraine "for as long as it takes."

The United States has sent billions of dollars in military equipment to Ukraine since the war began. So, by the looks of things, American taxpayers can look forward to bankrolling a foreign war for at least another year.
