It has been five years since evangelist Billy Graham passed away, and his son Franklin Graham commemorated his father's going "home to Heaven" on Facebook Tuesday.

“When I visited him at his home on that Saturday, I didn’t know it would be the last time I would get to talk with him on this side of heaven,” Graham posted to his 10 million followers.

Graham said he was "thankful" for his father's influence on his life and the way his world-wide ministry touched millions of lives.

“It just goes to show that God can use anyone who surrenders their life to Him — even a farm boy from Charlotte, North Carolina," he said.

Billy Graham was known as "America's pastor," and was one of the most influential faith leaders of the 20th century, if not the most influential.

He spent many years touring the country and preaching to vast crowds, as well as on television. He had a personal audience with 12 sitting presidents during his lifetime and marched with Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
