Fox Business co-host Sean Duffy nominated to lead Transportation Department

 November 19, 2024

President-elect Donald Trump continues to send shockwaves throughout the nation with his seemingly never-ending selection of popular and powerful conservatives to take lead roles in his upcoming administration.

According to the New York Post, Trump announced on Monday that he has chosen Sean Duffy to lead his Transportation Department.

A Fox Business co-host, a former Republican lawmaker, and previously a prosecutor in Wisconsin, Duffy is also the husband of Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy.

Trump's selection of Duffy is the second time the president has dipped into the Fox News talent pool, as Duffy's nomination comes in the wake of the nomination of Fox News co-host Pete Hegseth to lead the Pentagon.

The Post noted:

Duffy, a former prosecutor who represented the Badger State’s 7th District for more than eight years, is a Fox News contributor and co-hosts the evening Fox Business Network program “The Bottom Line.” His wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy, co-hosts “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

Notably, Duffy has been critical of current Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on several occasions, including with regard to the various airline controversies that happened on his watch in 2022.

Trump published a statement regarding his selection of Duffy to his Cabinet, praising him for his values and leadership abilities.

"Admired across the aisle, Sean worked with Democrats to clear extensive Legislative hurdles to build the largest road and bridge project in Minnesota History," Trump's statement read.

Trump added, "The husband of a wonderful woman, Rachel Campos-Duffy, a STAR on Fox News, and the father of nine incredible children, Sean knows how important it is for families to be able to travel safely, and with peace of mind."

Duffy released a short statement on his X account thanking Trump for nominating him to the high-level position.

Duffy, a devout Catholic and father of nine children, is highly regarded on the right, and he is regularly praised for his family values and strong faith.

"Congratulations Sean Duffy! It’ll be great to have you as Transportation Secretary, especially since you were appointed based on merit. Not based on identity like the previous guy," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Congratulations!!! To you @RCamposDuffy and your entire family. America is back on track to be great again."
