Gunmen in Chicago stooped so low as to shoot up a funeral procession on Saturday, wounding four people who were headed to bury a friend or family member.

A white pickup truck pulled up next to the procession and shot into another vehicle, wounding two people in that vehicle and two in another one nearby.

Police said the shooting was "targeted," and others in the area were not at risk.

A resident who lives nearby, Lisa Peloquin said, “It’s so terrifying to think that people were shooting this close to my home, this close to my family, this close to our schools. As long as it’s very easy for people who are upset and have some sort of issue to get a gun, then people are going to try to solve issues in this way, and that’s awful. None of us want to live in a world like that.”

Shootings are not getting any better in the city, with 248 people having been killed since Jan. 1 of this year.

Voters recently booted Lori Lightfoot (D) from the mayoral position, installing Brandon Johnson (D) in her place.
