Former Trump Official: TikTok Is 'Cocaine Disguised As Candy'

In China, young people using the TikTok app are treated to videos that make learning fun and use it as a platform to promote science, technology, engineering, and math.

In America, young people using TikTok are encouraged to go "TikTok famous" by showing stupid things like violence, pornography, and other foolish behavior.

One of the former employees of the Trump administration, Keith Krach, recently described TikTok as "disguised as candy, but it’s actually cocaine." According to Krach, the app "preys on children." He said:

If you look at how TikTok is actually being used inside of China — I’m not talking outside of China — they use it as an educational app for STEM, for science, technology, engineering, and math.

The danger for Americans using the app is twofold. Not only are we shown different content, but our data is also handled differently.

"That means they have access to your passwords, all your data, they have access to your health records, your bank records, they have access to your geopolitical information or your geospatial information," Krach claimed. "That means that they can track where you are, where you’ve been, and where you’re going." He added:

I think one of the things that’s worse is that it’s not just about you. It’s about the people you digitally interact with. So, look at it as a digital virus, because it can infect the people around you. And the only cure for this; the only vaccine for this is a total ban.
