Former Melania Trump adviser believes she'll show up for Donald Trump's sentencing hearing: Report

 June 1, 2024

Former first lady Melania Trump, for a number of understandable reasons, has largely stayed away from her husband's legal proceedings.

Sadly, her absence has prompted many on the left to mock former President Donald Trump for not having his wife appear by his side at such a trying time.

According to the Daily Mail, former top Melania Trump adviser Stephanie Winston Wolkoff was recently asked by CNN whether or not she believes Melania will be at her husband's sentencing hearing on July 11.

Much of the media loves questioning Wolkoff, given that she was once a close friend of Melania's but ultimately fell out of friendship with her during Trump's presidency, going on to eventually write a tell-all memoir.

Wolkoff added that she believes Melania will be at the sentencing hearing to serve as a "distraction."

"I do believe she will show up and it will be the art of distraction. It will shine a bright light on Melania when it's needed the most, when other things are happening in Donald's life needs to be shaded," the former adviser said.

The upcoming sentencing for the former president, after having been found guilty on 34 counts in a case prosecuted by Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg, will take place just four days before the former president formally accepts the party's nomination at the Republican National Convention.

The Daily Mail noted:

It's unclear if Melania will attend the convention or address it as she did in 2016 and 2020. Barron Trump was originally selected as a delegate from Florida, but Melania later announced he would not be serving as one due to 'prior commitments.'

It was also noted that Melania and son Barron were the only members of the Trump family who hadn't shown up to any of the trial days throughout the past month.

But as has been explained before, Melania reportedly -- and again, understandably -- didn't want to drag her young son into the media spotlight, or herself.

Trump's critics have relentlessly pushed the "Where's Melania" narrative throughout the trial and even before on the campaign trail.

The former president, on several occasions, has indicated strongly that his wife will join him when she's ready, and that her absence shouldn't be read as anything negative.

While Melania Trump is free to do whatever she wants, for whatever reason she wants, many want her to join her husband full-time on the campaign trail just to shut his critics down.
