Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson says GOP needs alternative to Donald Trump's 'Arrogance and Revenge'

 March 6, 2023

Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson took aim at former President Donald Trump during an interview with CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday. saying that the GOP needs an alternative solution to Trump's “arrogance and revenge."

During the interview, anchor Dana Bash asked Hutchinson, "So you think more voices speaking out against Trump is the right way to go? Are you going to run?"

Hutchinson replied by saying, "March is a message month. I want to continue to talk about having a consistent conservative message out there. We need to have all alternatives again to Donald Trump. We don’t need to be led by arrogance and revenge in the future. We need to be led by those that are problem-solving. They want to stick with the principles of our party and unite us together. And so that’s the message in March. April is a decision time. So, we will stick with that plan."

Hutchinson appears to be positioning himself to run against Trump in 2024 and he believes he is a suitable alternative to Trump's "arrogance and revenge."

The problem is Hutchinson is a Republican for whom no Republican voter is asking after four years of President Joe Biden.

Hutchinson is a centrist who seems to take issue with Trump's agenda. The problem is Trump's desire to get revenge against the deep state and Washington, D.C.'s bureaucracy is a desire shared by most conservative voters. It will be a very long road to the nomination for Hutchinson if he settles on running in 2024.
