Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) was speeding at the time he rear-ended another driver on I-70 in Maryland on Sunday morning and is at fault in the crash, according to a police report shared with USA Today.

A witness told police that Fetterman was driving well above the posted speed limit of 70 miles per hour when he crashed into another driver near Exit 68.

Fetterman, his wife Giselle, and the driver of the other car were all taken to the hospital after the crash. The Fettermans were released Sunday afternoon.

The senator was not tested for alcohol or drug use after the accident, and no citations were given at the scene.

According to a post by Giselle on X, it was the couple's anniversary.

The couple's two children did not appear to be in the car when the crash occurred.
