Federal judge clars way for Elon Musk to sue Media Matters: Report
X owner Elon Musk just scored a massive victory at the hands of a Texas-based federal judge regarding a lawsuit against Media Matters that could mean a huge payout for the billionaire genius.
According to NBC News, a federal judge this week stepped in and tossed a request by Media Matters to have a massive lawsuit filed by Musk dismissed.
The advertising-based lawsuit will be allowed to proceed, meaning that Musk could be in for a record-setting payday should he and his lawyers prevail in court.
NBC News noted:
X, formerly known as Twitter, originally filed the suit in November after Media Matters published a report showing that hateful content on the platform appeared next to online ads from companies like Apple, IBM and Disney. Those companies then paused their X advertising campaigns, the suit said.
Musk's attorneys, some of the best in the world, claimed in the lawsuit that Media Matters was "intentionally deceptive" in its report, which ultimately caused a critical revenue hit for Musk and his platform.
One of the defendants in the case, Media Matters President Angelo Carusone, claimed that Musk's lawsuit was "frivolous" and "meant to bully X’s critics into silence."
Clearly, U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor disagreed with that assessment, and paved the way for the lawsuit to move forward.

The federal judge called Media Matters' request to drop the suit "improper gamesmanship."
Reuters noted:
He said Media Matters' motion was belated and "motivated by an effort to force recusal, as opposed to disclosure of unknown information." As a result, he ordered Media Matters to pay X's attorney's fees in relation to litigating its motion.
Social media users reacted to the judge's ruling, many of them cheering Musk on as he attempts to take the ultra-left organization to the cleaners.
"God Bless You Elon. And thank you Elon so much for protecting all of our Free speech rights," one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, "Great news. What media matters did was malicious."
Only time will tell if Musk prevails in court and, if so, how much he'll win as a result.
