'Fancy shoes' DeSantis will soon drop out of the GOP primary, Trump says

Former President Donald Trump said during a town hall scheduled at the same time as the GOP primary debate this week that he thinks Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will drop out of the race soon.

“He’s gonna be out of the race very soon, gonna be out very soon,” Trump said. “You know I watched him last night. He’s standing up with his shoes, his fancy shoes. … He’s gonna be out of the race within, you know, a lot of people say before New Hampshire.”

DeSantis is currently holding onto second place in Iowa but is fourth in New Hampshire behind Trump, Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy.

Trump has a huge lead over all other candidates and has been skipping the official debates because of it.

"The "fancy shoes" reference was to rumors that DeSantis has had lifts put into his shoes to make him appear taller than he actually is.

The governor has denied the rumors and claims that he is 5' 11" tall without any such assistance.
