Eric Holder tapped to help Kamala Harris pick 2024 running mate: Report
With President Joe Biden out of the running for the 2024 presidential race despite months of vows to stay in, Vice President Kamala Harris is in a position where she'll likely be at the top of the Democratic ticket in November.
The liberal mainstream media, high-profile Democrats and hordes of celebrities have thrown their full support behind Harris, who has never won a primary and whose polling numbers were often steadily as bad or worse than Biden's.
While many in the party are not fond of Harris taking on Trump, some believe that consolidating behind Harris is the best move for the party right now as it would help avoid a likely bitter internal fight to pick the next Democratic nominee.
Nevertheless, all of the focus is now on the former California AG, with many speculating who she will choose as her 2024 running mate.
According to the Independent, Eric Holder, who was attorney general under former President Barack Obama, has been enlisted to help Harris choose her potential VP.
The outlet learned that Holder's firm, Covington & Burling LLP, will be assisting Harris in finding the best VP for the ticket.

The selection process will need to be completed before the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which is being held from Aug. 19-22, giving Harris and Holder only a few weeks to vet and select a viable running mate.
Holder has deep experience in vetting and helping select high-level positions.
The New York Post noted:
Since departing the Obama administration in 2015, Holder has remained politically active in the legal arena and was a key figure in the decennial congressional line-drawing battles in the 2022 midterm election cycle, during which he chaired the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.
There's now talk of the DNC holding a "virtual roll call" in an effort to crown Harris the nominee ahead of the convention, which makes sense for political purposes.
While she's almost guaranteed to wear that crown eventually, some believe that between now and the convention she could face a serious challenger or two.
Because of that, it wouldn't be surprising to see Harris announce her running mate sooner than later.
There are several progressive governors reportedly on her shortlist. Only time will tell whom she selects.
