The entire GOP House delegation from Alabama endorsed former President Donald Trump on Friday, the day after he traveled to Washington, D.C. to be arraigned on charges suggesting that he was in some way responsible for unrest at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Five statewide elected officials, including Sen. Tommy Tuberville, Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, and Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate, also endorsed Trump.

Trump spoke to the House members by telephone and was expected to talk to them when he visited on Friday.

He now has endorsements from 80 members of Congress, far more than have endorsed any other candidate.

Trump has denied the charges in the indictment and all other allegations against him, calling them "fake" and "election interference."

It's hard to see what else to call it when the DOJ under the sitting president goes after his top rival in this way.
