The son of Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) added to the recent family drama by getting arrested on Tuesday for 22 charges involving a series of car break-ins and stolen credit cards, including five felonies.

Tyler, who will be 19 this month, made headlines last year when his girlfriend gave birth to their child out of wedlock.

The charges include four felonies for criminal possession of ID documents with multiple victims, one felony conspiracy to commit charge, four misdemeanor charges of first-degree criminal trespassing of an automobile, with intent to commit a crime, four charges of identity theft, possession with intent to use,  and two charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

His mother said he will “take responsibility for his actions” and “should be held accountable for poor decisions just like any other citizen.”

“I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn’t ask for,” Lauren Boebert said in the statement. “It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track. I will never give up on him and I will continue to be there for him.”

The charges could be the nail in Boebert's coffin as she badly trails in the primary for the 4th District where she is now running. Her loss could cost Republicans a crucial seat in the 2024 election as they try to hold onto their razor-thin majority in the House.
