Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi leave US for England in wake of Trump election victory
Celebrity couple Ellen DeGeneres and spouse Portia de Rossi have reportedly left the United States for England in the wake of Donald Trump's election victory -- fulfilling their pledge to do so despite the backtracking in which many other stars have since engaged.
TMZ reported that sources close to the pair said they decided to "get the hell out" of the county.
They purchased a home in Cotswolds in southwest England, around two hours from London, ahead of the election and have now settled there.
Before the election, DeGeneres said on Instagram that she thought their "lives" depended on Vice President Kamala Harris prevailing at the polls.
“Let’s vote like our lives depend on it. Because they do!” she captioned the post.
Both she and de Rossi were feeling "disillusioned" with the news of Trump's win and had their social media pages flooded with comments about their threats to leave the country, urging them to go ahead with the plan.
