A horrific shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, left eight individuals wounded, three fatally, early Sunday morning, adding to what is shaping up to be a terrible year for Kansas City in terms of violent crimes.
Kansas City has experienced a terrible uptick in murders as the locale is up to 97 homicides compared to the 74 homicides notched this time last year.
Police detained a "subject of interest" later on Sunday, although there hasn't been confirmation on whether he was the shooter.
Kansas City's 28% increase in homicides should be a wakeup call to Americans. Even smaller cities in the interior aren't immune to the rising wave of violent crime, and a lot of the blame could be laid at the feet of the city's Democrat leadership.
Both the mayor and the county prosecutor are Democrats, and Kansas City seems to be declining both economically and in terms of safety under their leadership.
Rising evictions and declining home ownership have contributed to a rise in crime and unrest, and so far, there haven't been any answers on what will be done to reverse course.
