A resident of East Palestine, Ohio asked that Americans "pray for us" when interviewed by Breitbart News on Tuesday.

“I know there’s a lot of people that are very, very scared," the resident said. "They’re very nervous about what they’re coming home to, the environment, the animals years from now, the environmental impact on just people, and things around town.”

“God is in control,” the resident added. “And I think so often we forget that, that he is in control. That he knew this before it even happened.”

The train derailment was "not a good way to get your name on the map," the resident admitted.

The derailment occurred nearly two weeks ago, and the town was evacuated while officials burned at least five train cars that contained toxic chemicals.

Townspeople were allowed back home recently but are reporting symptoms that seem to be related to chemical exposure.
