A driver who crashed into an exterior gate at the White House during rush hour on Monday was arrested while the incident was investigated, according to the Washington Examiner.

No casualties resulted from the accident, but it wasn't clear why the accident occurred.

“Shortly before 6 p.m., a vehicle collided with an exterior gate on the White House complex. The driver has been taken into custody & we are investigating the cause & manner of the collision. Expect traffic implications at 15th Street & Pennsylvania Ave & adjacent intersections,” Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the Secret Service, said.

Guglielmi wasn't clear whether the crash was accidental or intentional, he said.

A rented truck previously crashed into the White House gate in May, and it was later determined to be unintentional.

The driver in that incident was charged with reckless driving.
