Donald Trump takes massive 26-point lead in Republican primary race

 March 26, 2023

Former President Donald Trump is already dominating the Republican primary battle with a massive 26-point lead according to this month's Harvard-Harris Poll.

The poll asked voters, "If the Republican presidential primary for the 2024 election was held today, who would you vote for?"

Trump crushed his competitors by taking home 50% of the support with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis coming in second place with 24%.

Behind DeSantis, the field devolves into single-digit long-shot contenders like former Vice President Mike Pence and former U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, who captured 7% and 5% respectively.

Right now, Trump is dominating the field, and barring some major change he will run away with the nomination next year. Without Trump, DeSantis is the undisputed frontrunner with a 32% lead over Pence.

A lot can change over the next year, and Ron DeSantis is going to need a massive boost if he hopes to beat the man who arguably is responsible for launching his career.
