Donald Trump says Mitch McConnell must step down amid health problems

 August 1, 2023

Former President Donald Trump shocked Americans by demanding that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) step down because of his health issues and declaring that the upper chamber needs new leadership.

During an exclusive interview last Thursday, Trump affirmed growing sentiments that it is time for McConnell to step aside after a decades-long political career.

McConnell is reportedly in poor health and has been going downhill since he fell down some stairs in a hotel earlier this year.

Apparently, McConnell also took a nasty fall at an airport in early July, but that incident went unreported.

Senate Republicans have been hesitant to call on McConnell to step aside, but perhaps Trump could change that. It is clear that McConnell is too old to be in the Senate, let alone leading his party there.

Trump wasn't gracious in his attack on McConnell saying, "I thought it was sad. At the same time, I think it’s a shame he went so far out to give Green New Deal money to Biden and Democrats. He got 10 people to vote because they needed 10 people, and he got 10 people to vote on numerous occasions for trillions of dollars. I think that’s a shame. But that was too bad. That was a sad thing to see. He had a bad fall, I guess, and probably an after-effect of that. But it was also sad that he gave trillions and trillions and trillions of dollars to the Democrats to waste on the Green New Deal, destroying our oceans and destroying our great, beautiful vistas and plains all over our country with windmills that are very expensive energy. So that’s a very sad thing also."

McConnell is clearly in poor health, and it only makes sense for Republicans to demand better of their leaders, considering that many have been arguing that President Joe Biden also needs to retire from politics due to his advanced age and failing faculties.

Furthermore, McConnell stepping away would be no loss for the Republican Party.

As Trump pointed out, McConnell has been an enabler for President Biden's insane legislative ideas. McConnell is the very image of the establishment Republican who will cut deals with Democrats and sell Americans out if he can benefit personally.

Getting rid of McConnell would be a big step in the right direction for the Republican Party. It's a new day, and the old guard Republicans who have grown powerful off of selling out Americans are no longer welcome in today's GOP.
