Donald Trump holds massive 21-point lead in Georgia: Poll

April 16, 2023

Former President Donald Trump has jumped to a massive 21-point lead in the key swing state of Georgia according to a University of Georgia School of Public and International Affairs survey released on Friday.

Georgia will be a focal point for the 2024 presidential election, as the purple state is up for grabs and will be key to winning the election.

Trump lost Georgia in the 2020 presidential election, and his feuding with Governor Brian Kemp (R) raised questions about how he would fare in the state going into 2024.

Fifty-one percent of Georgians supported Trump, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) as the runner-up with 30% support. No other Republican exceeded double-digit support rates.

This poll further reinforces that the Republican presidential nomination is Trump's to lose. DeSantis is competing but ultimately, he will need something drastic to happen to catch Trump.

A lot can happen, including a possible criminal conviction of Trump, between now and the RNC convention in July 2024. Until then, Trump can rest easy about his performance in the Peach State.
