President-elect Donald Trump has never been more popular and has finally achieved a positive approval rating for the first time in his political career.

Trump celebrated this accomplishment by posting a meme showing his infamous mugshot alongside a picture of his TIME magazine Person of the Year profile.

RealClearPolitics found that Trump's average approval rating hit 49.4% on Friday, while his unfavorable rating was at 47.4%. For such a polarizing figure, a positive approval rating is unprecedented and a testament to how popular the president-elect is right now.

All of this comes after nearly two years of battling political indictments, including a hush money trial in Manhattan where he was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying financial records.

No number of indictments or convictions could knock Trump down as he went on to win the 2024 presidential election in historic fashion, with his campaign appealing to millions of everyday Americans who handed him the popular vote.

Trump is the first Republican to win the popular vote in decades, and if he can do half of what he has promised, he could leave office in four years as one of the most popular presidents in American history.
