Donald Trump Jr. told the New York Post in an interview published Saturday that he wants to see a "fighter" as his father's running mate in 2024 and mentioned some names he wants to see included.

“What I want in that role is I want a fighter,” Trump Jr. said. “I understand what they are going to throw at us."

[Given] the vicious nature of the swamp and the insanity we see on a daily basis, you need someone who can take those hits,” he added.

On Trump Jr.'s shortlist: Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH); biotech billionaire and former GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy; and Tucker Carlson, the former top Fox News host who now streams on X.

He and fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle have an active role in Donald Trump's campaign and would stay active during the transition if he is elected, but Trump Jr. said he doesn't plan to be one of his fathers advisers like his sister Ivanka was previously.

You can “never rule anything out,” though, he said.
