District Attorney Alvin Bragg sued for wrongful prosecution by bodega worker who killed criminal in self-defense

District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) is being sued by Jose Alba, the bodega worker who killed a criminal with a knife after he was attacked while on the job last year.

Video footage of Alba defending himself against his assailant quickly went viral, and the uproar against Bragg's prosecution followed quickly.

Alba, a Dominican immigrant, filed a lawsuit claiming that he had been "wrongfully prosecuted because of the Manhattan district attorney’s ‘racial equity’ policies."

The lawsuit further states, "Despite the fact that Simon and Lee were the initial aggressors, it was Plaintiff who was arrested, incarcerated, and wrongfully prosecuted. While in theory, Bragg’s ‘racial equity’ policies are a well-intentioned attempt by him to implement even-handed justice, the means and methods employed by Bragg have instead had an opposite effect and resulted in discrimination against certain defendants based on race."

Alba is seeking compensatory and punitive damages against the city as well as justice against Bragg, who has become a terror both to the people of New York City and the wider nation.

The case was an open and shut example of self-defense but Bragg, being the radical he is, charged Alba with murder anyway. While Alba may not be directly seeking Bragg's removal, that would be the best outcome for the jurisdiction in which he serves.
