A memo from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2017 concluded that border walls are the most effective way to control illegal immigration.

The memo specifically looked at 25 areas along the border and recommended border walls be built in all 25 of them.

A wall is more cost-effective than any other solution that was considered, in addition to achieving the best results.

President Joe Biden has said that border walls are a “waste of money” and “not a serious policy solution,” but the memo contradicts these statements.

“This is vindication to those who were disparaged by this administration for their support of physical barriers at the border,” IRLI Executive Director Dale Wilcox said in a statement.

Biden canceled all border wall construction when he took office, but his administration is now planning to build small sections of wall in Starr County, Texas, where large numbers of migrants are crossing.
