Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) pushed back Friday against misleading criticism about a new slavery curriculum in Florida, calling comments from Vice President Kamala Harris "ridiculous" and "outrageous."
Harris claimed that the curriculum aimed to teach students that slavery was beneficial for Blacks because of one small part that said some slaves used skills they learned during that period to make a living once they were free.
"I thought it was absolutely ridiculous, it's totally outrageous," said the governor in a media briefing.
"You guys can look on the website at the Florida department of education, they got a lot of scholars together to do a lot of standards, and a lot of different things, but these are the most robust standards in African American history, probably anywhere in the country," DeSantis continued.
"Anyone who reads that will see that it's very thorough, factual, and for them to try to demagogue it, look, that may have worked in the past, nobody's buying their nonsense anymore," he went on.
Are Democrats that desperate to keep former President Donald Trump ahead of the GOP pack, thinking Biden could best beat him?
It's important to share the news to spread the truth. Most people won't.
