DeSantis leads Biden in swing states, but he's got to overcome huge Trump lead first

May 20, 2023

New polls in Georgia and Arizona show Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ahead of President Joe Biden in a hypothetical general election matchup.

According to the polling by Public Opinion Strategies, in Georgia, it's DeSantis at 45% and Biden at 42%, while in Arizona, it's DeSantis at 47% and Biden at 42%.

In both of these states, former President Donald Trump trails Biden, but the problem is, he's more popular with Republicans than DeSantis.

DeSantis has not officially jumped into the presidential race yet, so it's possible he could get a bounce within his own party when he does.

Until then, however, Trump is nearly 30 points ahead of DeSantis in many primary polls.

Republicans aren't looking at whether Trump can actually win a general election, but if they don't, we could end up with Biden again. Do they really want that?
