DeSantis Holds Massive Lead Over Trump In Hypothetical Primary

March 14, 2023

The University of North Florida Public Opinion Research Lab recently asked residents of the Sunshine State who they would most like to see earn the Republican nomination for President of the United States of America in 2024.

The results were not even close.

Ron DeSantis was the winner.

It makes sense that Florida Republicans would support their own governor, but few expected him to absolutely demolish Donald Trump by this wide of a margin.

Florida Ron collected 52% support in the survey, with Donald Trump all the way down there at 27%. Even though this is DeSantis' home state, beating the former President of the United States of America by this much is no small feat.

Donald Trump is a political juggernaut. It's hard to even be in the same area code as him in ANY state, much less beat him.

By comparison, only three other candidates collected over a single percentage point of support.

Nikki Haley at 4%, Liz Cheney at 3%, and Mike Pence at 2%.
