DeSantis Defends Rejecting Queer Theory High School Course

Liberals in the federal government have put forth a highvschool Advanced Placement curriculum that features African American Studies.

Obviously, there's nothing wrong with that.

Until you learn what's contained in the "African American Studies."

"Queer Theory" and abolishing prisons.

Neither of those sound like a very good idea to me.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis didn't think those things sounded like what his state's students needed to be focusing on, so he rejected the curriculum. He said:

In the state of Florida, education standards … require teaching black history — all the important things, that’s part of our core curriculum, The issue is we have guideline and standards in Florida. We want education, not indoctrination. If you fall on the side of indoctrination, we’re gonna decline. If it’s education, then we will do. What’s one of the lessons about? Queer theory. Who would say that an important part of black history is queer theory? That is somebody pushing an agenda on our kids.
