Democrats furious that Biden plans to sign bill overturning DC crime law if it passes Senate

March 4, 2023

While President Joe Biden had previously said he planned to veto a congressional bill overturning a controversial Washington, D.C. soft-on-crime law if it passed the Senate before the end of the month, Biden has apparently angered some Democrats by reversing that decision and saying he would instead sign the bill.

“The White House f***** this up royally,” one congressional Democrat told the Hill via text.

But the reason why Democrats are furious isn't because they oppose the bill so much as they voted for it to support Biden, and now he has changed his mind and kind of double-crossed them.

"So a lot of us who are allies voted no in order to support what the White House wanted. And now we are being hung out to dry,” the Democrat lawmaker added. “F****** AMATEUR HOUR. HEADS SHOULD ROLL OVER AT THE WHITE HOUSE OVER THIS.”

Biden is managing to alienate even his friends with his shoddy leadership with ridiculous decisions like this.

It's a bad law at a time when D.C. crime is skyrocketing, so Biden should support overturning it, but he should have done so from the start instead of waffling and confusing, or even betraying, his own party allies in the process.
