Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) attempted to blame former President Donald Trump for President Joe Biden's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan by saying Biden had no options because of decisions that Trump made.
Cardin made the comment on Fox News Sunday, echoing claims made in a report from the White House that deflected blame for the withdrawal that was both chaotic and deadly.
Cardin claimed, "Make no mistake about it, the Biden administration had very bad options. The decision to withdraw from Afghanistan was made by the Trump administration."
13 service members and over 100 Afghani civilians were killed by a suicide bomber at the airport in Kabul, and many argue that it was the Biden administration's poor planning that created the circumstances that allowed such a tragedy to occur.
To this day, the Biden administration has refused to take accountability for the disaster. Senator Cardin's comments demonstrate that the Democrat Party is more interested in protecting the Party than demanding accountability from the President.
A report from the White House obviously can't be trusted. Republicans in Congress ought to open an official investigation and find out who is truly at fault for the terrible situation in Afghanistan.
