Democrat John Fetterman says he may vote in favor of Hegseth, Patel confirmation
Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat, recently announced that he "potentially" will vote "yes" on some of President-elect Donald Trump's controversial Cabinet picks like Defense Secretary-nominee Pete Hegseth and FBI Director-nominee Kash Patel.
Fetterman's potential approval is a serious switch from the way liberals have operated in the past.
In fact, much of the Democrat Party is probably upset at Fetterman for even agreeing to have an open mind. Many liberals want Fetterman to vote these nominees down just because they were picked by Donald Trump, but Fetterman is insisting he's going to have more integrity than that.
"There is going to be some that I will vote yes, and there's some maybe that I'll vote no. But nobody can accuse me of just saying I had a closed mind, or I just said no because Trump picked this person, or whatever," Fetterman said.
John Fetterman is frustrated with the rest of his party for not having an open mind about Trump's nominees and seeming to actively root against Trump. He's already come out and said that Representative Elise Stefanik, a Republican from New York, and Senator Marco Rubio, a Republican from Florida, have his full endorsement.
He chastised Democrats for being totally unwilling to even consider Pete Hegseth.
"I think we're going to learn more," Fetterman said about the Hegseth situation. "But, you know, my commitment, and I think I'm doing the job, is I'm going to sit down and have a conversation. And the president picked these people. Not going to be my first choice, second choice, third choice, but that's democracy. And to me, it would be distressing if he is confirmed, if the Democrats are going to turn our back collectively to the leader of the defense. I mean, that's astonishing, and that's dangerous."
