Former Democrat Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson Dies After Decades Of Service

 January 2, 2024

Former United States Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson has died at the age of 88.

The mayor of Dallas, Texas, Eric Johnson, commented on her death on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

While the two share the same last name, there was no familial relation between them.

Eddie Bernice Johnson was, though, a “dear friend” to the mayor.

“Today, our nation, our state, and our city have lost a statesman, a trailblazer, and a champion. And I have lost a dear friend, confidante, and mentor,” Johnson said in a recent post on X.

Johnson went on to speak of all that the former representative accomplished during her time on earth, saying, “She touched countless lives, including mine.”

The mayor shared a heartfelt sentiment as he concluded his announcement revealing he was “devastated and heartbroken by her passing” and that his “thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones.”

No matter how you felt about Eddie Bernice Johnson’s political views, you can sympathize with how painful it is to lose a loved one, especially one you admired so much.

We pray for peace and comfort for those grieving the loss of Eddie Bernice Johnson.
