Demi Lovato's younger sister suffers tragic loss of newborn baby
A high-profile Hollywood figure is mourning the loss of a close family member, letting fans and followers know of her heartbreak.
As Fox News reports, the sister of singer Demi Lovato, who recently announced that she was expecting the arrival of a child this month, revealed that she had undergone an emergency procedure that did not yield the desired outcome, with the baby sadly passing away.
Family tragedy unfolds
Madison De La Garza, the younger sister of Lovato, shared on Instagram that late last month, she and her boyfriend, Ryan Mitchell, were confronted with an unexpected medical emergency.
De La Garza wrote, “On the evening of September 27th, after an emergency c-section, Ryan and I held our little girl for the first and last time,” indicating that the child had not survived.
“Thank you, Xiomara, for making us parents to the most perfect angel in heaven. Mommy and Daddy love you sweet girl,” the grieving mother added.
Family expresses grief
Demi Lovato commented on the tragic social media post, writing, “I love you so much Xiomara. An angel in every sense of the word.”
In a wistful addition, Lovato said, “I'll be your auntie forever,” and added a broken heart emoji for emphasis.
The pop phenom later posted a tribute to Instagram Stories in which she said, “RIP to my beautiful, perfect niece Xiomara. I'm so grateful I got to hold you,” adding, “I love you so much.”
Dallas Lovato, sister to both Demi and De La Garza, expressed her sadness publicly as well, commenting online, “Baby girl Xiomara, I miss you everyday. I'll take good care of your mom, so you can fly away. Watch over us and guide us and give us little signs. One day we'll come and see you, it just might take some time.”
Lovato's difficult personal journey
Having lived in the public eye since childhood, Lovato has faced a series of struggles with mental health over the years, as Billboard detailed.
Lovato told the world in 2018 of her bipolar diagnosis, and she has also shed light on her battles with eating disorders and substance abuse.
She also cheated death that same year, undergoing hospitalization after a near-fatal overdose.
Last year, however, Lovato expressed relief about the progress she has made over the years, saying, “I feel like I am in control now, where my whole life I wasn't in control.”
Hopefully, her newfound sense of peace and clarity will help Lovato navigate what is a truly sad time for her and her family.
