Cuomo says more spies like Linda Sun likely operating in US
Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) appeared before the House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Pandemic on Tuesday and said he thinks there could be multiple Chinese or Russian spies operating in the United States.
House members wanted to talk to Cuomo after one of his former staffers, Linda Sun, was arrested along with her husband for taking money from China for favors and information.
They wanted to know if Cuomo was involved in Sun's activities or knew anything about them, but the former governor said he wouldn't even know Sun if he saw her because they didn't work closely together.
The House members had two photos showing Cuomo and Sun meeting together, but Cuomo is not under any suspicion at this point.
“I think it is a serious matter. I don’t think this was just in New York. I think there is an infiltration of Chinese, maybe Russian, operatives,” Cuomo said.
He thinks state governments should work with the federal government to stop these kinds of activities but pointed to federal resources as outstripping state ones.
