Crime epidemic leads to explosion of attacks on NYPD officers

 February 12, 2024

New York City is one of the least desirable places to be a police officer right now, thanks to a liberal district attorney and a growing crime wave that has seen criminals emboldened to attack police right and left.

Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry told the New York Post, "Well over 5,000 cops were attacked and injured last year – that’s not only a record, it’s a full-blown epidemic."

Hendry continued by saying, "The vicious attacks on police officers we’ve seen recently didn’t come out of nowhere. This dangerous environment has been building for years. . . . It’s not going to get better until those who attack police officers are consistently prosecuted and kept in jail. And that won’t happen unless New Yorkers keep speaking up to demand an end to the chaos."

This comes just a week after two NYPD officers were beaten up by a group of migrants in a video that went viral.

Most of the attackers were never charged, and those who were charged walked free for a time, thanks to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Until criminals are actually prosecuted and held accountable for their crimes, the situation will only become more dangerous for police officers and citizens alike.
