House approves bill protecting fracking from presidential ban on 226-188 vote

 February 9, 2025

The House of Representatives approved a new bill that seeks to curtail the president's power to unilaterally ban fracking by requiring Congressional approval in a decisive 226-188 vote.

The bill, titled the Protecting American Energy Production Act, was introduced by Representative August Pfluger (R-TX) and passed with the support of 16 Democrats who crossed over to vote with the GOP.

Pfluger stated that the bill was “a necessary first step” in reversing former President Joe Biden's efforts to strangle fossil fuel production.

In a statement given to the Daily Caller, Pfluger stated, "When President Biden took office, his administration took a ‘whole of government’ approach to wage war on American energy production, pandering to woke environmental extremists and crippling this thriving industry."

He continued saying, "My legislation that passed today is a necessary first step in reversing Biden’s war on energy by preventing the federal government from banning the use of hydraulic fracturing. Fracking is a safe, clean, and effective way to produce affordable energy and strengthen our national security."

For the past few years, Biden has waged a war on energy which is thankfully over with President Trump back in office. But Pfluger is looking to the future with this legislation to ensure that no president can unilaterally act to harm American interests when it comes to reliable sources of cheap energy.
