Comet last seen during paleolithic era to be visible over next few weeks

January 8, 2023

A comet named C/2022 E3 (ZTF), and which has not been seen from the earth for 50,000 years, will be visible in late January and early February from different parts of the globe.

The comet was first seen by telescopes inside Jupiter's orbit in March 2022.

It will be closest to the sun on Jan. 12, and closest to Earth on Feb. 2.

NASA said people will be able to see the comet with binoculars, and in some cases with the naked eye.

It will be most visible to the Northern Hemisphere on January mornings, and to the Southern Hemisphere in February.

Photos that have already been taken of the comet show that it has a green halo and an intricate tail structure.
