Federal prosecutors said Tuesday that a brown leather pouch Hunter Biden used to store his firearm had cocaine residue on it, according to the FBI.

The revelation came as Biden's lawyers asked for the dismissal of three gun felonies against him.

"The strength of the evidence against him is overwhelming," prosecutors told the judge in response to the dismissal motion.

The FBI obtained the gun pouch from a state police vault last year and had the white power residue on it tested.

"To be clear, investigators literally found drugs on the pouch where the defendant had kept his gun," prosecutors said.

He is charged with making a false statement in the purchase of a firearm, making a false statement related to information required to be kept by a federal firearms licensed dealer, and possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.
