China Holds Military Drills Near Taiwan
The Global Times is China's state-run newspaper. That means that EVERYTHING printed in those pages or online is the official stance of the Chinese government or at least has been approved by the Chinese government.
That's why this recent report about China's Army holding "intensive maritime and air exercises" is so disturbing.

The exercises are meant to show China's proximity to and ability to police the country of Taiwan.
Why? Because Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is slated to meet with the president of Taiwan on Wednesday.
China wants to make sure Americans can never feel comfortable with the constant threat of their country looming over us.
They're unpredictable and they know it. That's exactly how they like it. China doesn't want us to know if Kevin McCarthy is in danger or not.
