Cause of death revealed for son of 'Pawn Stars' personality Rick Harrison

 March 1, 2024

The reality television world was shaken earlier this year when it emerged that Adam Harrison, son of beloved Pawn Stars stalwart Rick Harrison, died unexpectedly at the age of 39, and now, an official cause of death has been revealed, as Fox News reports.

Officials in Clark County, Nevada, where the younger Harrison died, announced this week that a drug overdose was to blame for the tragedy.

According to coroners investigating the case, Adam Harrison's cause of death was “fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity.”

The manner of death, the report further indicated, was accidental.

While the report solidifies once and for all precisely what took Adam Harrison's life, his father already appeared to know the truth back in January.

“Yes, I can confirm Adam died from a fentanyl overdose,” Rick Harrison declared soon after his son's untimely death.

He added “The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously. It seems it is just flowing over the borders, and nothing is being done about it. We must do better.”

Additional details contained in police reporting from the time of Harrison's death shed light on the sad circumstances that prevailed toward the end of his life.

Reporting from the New York Post cited official information stating that Adam Harrison had been in jail for several months over the prior year, ultimately moving into a Las Vegas guesthouse a few weeks before he died there.

A neighbor who was living near the guesthouse told police of “some alarming behavior” she had observed on Harrison's part, and another woman residing close by later grew concerned when he did not answer the door after multiple attempts.

The property's landlord eventually entered the property out of concern for Harrison's well-being, only to find him unresponsive, with, as police later noted, “two vials of a redacted substance next to the mattress” and “foil with an unknown pill, lighters and narcotic paraphernalia straws.”

As Fox News noted earlier this year, Adam Harrison was the son of Rick Harrison and his former wife Kim, and while he was never a regular on the television show that made his family famous, he reportedly did spend some time working in the pawn shop where the program was based.

Regardless of the personal demons he clearly battled, Adam Harrison was a cherished son and brother, as evidenced by an Instagram post from his father soon after his death, as reported by People.

Captioning a photo of himself with his son, Rick Harrison wrote, "You will always be in my heart! I love you Adam,” and the grieving father added a broken heart emoji to the message, succinctly summing up the unbearable pain the fentanyl crisis has caused countless families across the country.
