Casey DeSantis, the wife of current Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), had the highest Republican and overall approval of any candidate in a new poll that aimed to gauge support for potential candidates for 2026.

Republican voters favored DeSantis at 57%, and overall voters by 30% in the University of North Florida survey.

The next-closest candidate was former state attorney general and current U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody, who had overall favorability of 20% and with Republicans, 35%.

Casey DeSantis has spoken about how to lead the state in the best possible way and said during a 2023 interview that she could consider a run.

Besides Moody, former Rep. Matt Gaetz is expected to run for the seat.

Florida is one of the most conservative states in the country, and the majority of its residents would like it to stay that way.
