California ranks last on tipping in new survey

Many Americans are getting tired of being asked to tip in many situations that shouldn't require it, like when getting takeout food or when attending a sporting event, and California has been named the lowest-tipping state by Toast.

Tipping averages 17.9% in the state, but wages are higher, even for service jobs that usually rely heavily on tips.

Rising inflation is putting the squeeze on many households, but that doesn't really help those who rely on tips for their income.

The best-tipping state was Delaware, followed by Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Other bad-tipping states include Nevada, Washington and Florida.

While Americans balk at the phenomenon of tipping everyone, many clearly don't want to be the non-tipper either.
