Brownsville, TX seeing influx of thousands of illegal immigrants since last week amid rules changes

April 30, 2023

Even as the Biden administration attempts to tighten rules about how many immigrants can illegally cross the border and stay in the U.S., Breitbart Texas reported that as many as 7,000 migrants crossed the border in a week and flooded the border town of Brownsville, Texas.

Many of the migrants waited on the streets for buses to take them to different parts of the country where they have U.S. sponsors waiting for them.

Some have been waiting in migrant camps in Mexico until they could enter the U.S.

Smartphones were issued to some migrants in order to keep contact with them and tell them when and where to report for asylum hearings, while others just got paper notices for when they should appear.

Because the administration has been letting so many illegal immigrants into the country, there is a long backlog for asylum hearings, and many of the migrants are nowhere to be found when their hearing time comes.

While saying they are tightening immigration rules for staying in the country, Biden also plans to allow 30,000 migrants from Venezuela and other Latin American countries to enter legally per month under the new rules.
