The White House is playing dumb about the potential $500 billion cost of President Joe Biden's student loan bailout.
“I can’t give you that off the top of my head,” White House director of domestic policy Susan Rice said Wednesday when reporters asked about the cost.
“Standing here today, I can’t tell you how all of those are going to shake out,” Director of the National Economic Council Bharat Ramamurti said.
While the Penn Wharton Budget model said the plan would cost $329 billion, the Center for a Responsible Federal Budget said it would be north of $500 billion.
Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Biden had an excellent record on fiscal responsibility (he doesn't), but even she couldn't give a cost figure and just referred reporters back to Rice's nothing remarks.
