Former President Donald Trump got a big win on Thursday when Judge Aileen Cannon overruled an expedited schedule by special master Raymond Dearie that would have burdened Trump's legal team in their battle with the FBI following the outrageous raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence.
Now the review of the case will likely extend into next year, which is far from unusual.
What was unusual was the expedited timeline put forward by Dearie that was clearly tailored to put Trump's team at a big disadvantage.
Judge Cannon also overruled Dearie's demands that Trump's legal team present evidence supporting Trump's claim that the FBI may have "planted" evidence at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Judge Cannon's ruling read, "There shall be no separate requirement on Plaintiff at this stage, prior to the review of any of the Seized Materials, to lodge ex ante final objections to the accuracy of Defendant's Inventory, its descriptions, or its contents. The Court's Appointment Order did not contemplate that obligation."
All of that is great news for the former President as he continues his crusade against the FBI and its partisan overseers that enabled the raid that shocked Americans around the nation.
