Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) is up for reelection in November, and his chances of success are looking slim. Those chances worsened drastically when it was revealed that Kelly's campaign paid tens of thousands to defense contractors that benefitted from legislation Kelly voted for.

Kelly served on the Senate Armed Services Committee and voted to approve the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, which sent funding to Newton Consulting & Engineering, Inc.

Kelly has been using that company's planes for "regional travel," as confirmed by Bob Newton, an Air Force veteran and owner of Newton Consulting & Engineering, Inc.

Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute, commented on Kelly's situation saying, "It's incumbent on our elected officials to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. In this case, Senator Kelly has failed the test."

A Senator using a private plane from a defense contractor that received taxpayer funds is a serious issue that must be addressed quickly.

At a time when Americans are struggling, and the economy continues to crumble, our legislators must be held accountable. Hopefully, voters will send a message to Senator Kelly in November.
