Mars Wrigley has apologized to China after rightly calling Taiwan a country in one of its advertisements, Breitbart reported Friday.
Chinese state-run newspaper Global Times said that the company “apologized for marking Taiwan island as a country, saying its local team has verified & aligned the official site and social media accounts to ensure accurate content.”
“Snickers owner Mars Wrigley said it respects China’s [national] sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the Global Times tweeted.
The candy company also made sure the apology was on its Snickers China Weibo account.
Taiwan is a sovereign country with its own Democratic government, but China continues to insist that Taiwan is one of its provinces. Many in the U.S., especially on the left, pretend to agree with China to preserve relations with the nation.
