The Supreme Court has vacated several cases related to gun control following a bombshell ruling that invalidated New York's gun control laws.
The New York decision has had a ripple effect on several important gun control cases as the Supreme Court has sent a message that the "shall not be infringed" phrase of the 2nd Amendment needs to be respected.
Among the cases vacated were lawsuits against an "assault weapons" ban in Maryland and a "high capacity" magazine ban in California.
The Supreme Court specifically instructed state courts to revisit the cases and ideally, the issues at hand will be settled at the state level.
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in the bombshell New York ruling that "We too agree, and now hold, consistent with Heller and McDonald, that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual's right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home."
This is just the beginning of a pro-2nd Amendment movement in the Judiciary that will see gun control and other anti-2nd Amendment legislation tossed out. Americans have something to be thankful for even amidst these turbulent times.
