White House communications director Kate Bedingfield has suddenly reversed plans and will remain with the Biden administration after announcing she would be leaving.
Bedingfield announced she would be leaving by the end of July but seems to have changed her mind thanks to pressure from President Joe Biden.
In an email to her colleagues, Bedingfield said, "After much thought, discussion and reflection, I've decided to stay. I'm not done here and there is so much more good work to do with all of you. I couldn't be happier and more excited about this awesome — if admittedly last-minute! — development. The work is too important and too energizing and I have a lot of gas left in the tank."
Bedingfield has been working with President Biden since his days as Vice President to former President Barack Obama.
Her loss would have been devastating for morale and it appears that President Biden understood this.
Unfortunately, Bedingfield's retention will do little to reverse the political headwinds that President Biden and the Democrat Party are facing. Biden is one of the most unpopular Presidents in history and it is surprising that more of his officials haven't jumped ship for greener pastures.
